Hair loss is a very common problem encountered by most people today. There are several reasons for hair loss: lack of proper nutrition in the diet, stress, vitamin deficiency, menstrual problems in women, external weather conditions, emotional disturbances, prolonged or severe illness and others. Hair loss not only causes a change in the external appearance of the person but also causes internal disturbances like embarrassment, decrease in self-confidence, and even depression. On the other hand, it may indicate a major disease in the body that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.

Hair loss generally indicates a deficiency in vitamin C, vitamin B1, iron and lysine. These four nutrients are generally taken in by the body from the food we consume. However, sometimes, the body the may lose the ability to absorb necessary nutrients from the food. In such cases, additional supplements of these nutrients should be provided to the body in the form of tablets or syrups till the balance in the body is restored.

Some types of hair loss are experienced by men only. These cause baldness in men at a very young age. The main reason for this is the production of DHT (dihydrotestosterone), a compound that is present in significant quantities in men only. There are many products in the market now that aim at blocking or slowing the production of DHT in the body. These products contain Palmetto, which is found to be effective in combating the production of DHT.

NDF or Nutrient Deficient Follicles is another major reason for hair loss. This can also be rectified by the intake of necessary vitamins that contribute to healthy hair. There are hundreds of products in the market today that promise to prevent hair loss with the help of hair vitamins. These products are generally prescribed by hair care experts though they can also be purchased over the counter. There are also several websites on the Internet that provide information relating to hair vitamin products for hair loss. However, the best source of hair vitamins for fighting hair loss is a well-balanced healthy diet that is rich in nutrients.
