Don't Let Acne Take Control

Author: Mitch Hampson

Do you personally suffer from acne? If you are one of the unfortunate ones and you have started to spend good money on over the counter products, maybe its time to think again as a lot of these products actually contain chemicals that would do your acne more harm than good and can often make things worse.

The good thing is that there a few natural items available that can give considerable relief to your acne, a very well known one being Aloe Vera which has often been used in the healing of burns and other similar wounds and has been said to help stop the scarring process of acne.

Common Tea Tree Oil is often used also, has this is a natural antiseptic and does help keep the bacteria at bay, if use in conjunction with Aloe Vera you have a very good chance of having products which cause less damage than there over the counter brothers.

Birth Control.

Did you know that if you are a woman that Acne can often be controlled by the birth control pill, it works because it slows down or evens out the hormonal surges that can occur before there menstrual cycle. Certainly something for you to take a look at with advice from your Doctor.

Fatty Acids.

These wonderful sounding oils are also another great way of keeping things under control the best being omega 3, 6 and 9. Omega 3 (alpha-linolenic acid) is mostly found in wheat germ oil, salmon, sesame seeds and most green vegetables.

Omega 6 (Linoleic acid) is mostly found in Olive Oil, Chicken, sunflower seeds, Olives.

Omega 9 (Oleic acid) is found in Olive and peanut oils and avocado.

Phototherapy

You can achieve some short term improvement with just plain old sunlight but you do have to make sure that you only get very small amounts as over prolonged use can make this worse, so you do have to be careful with amounts and exposure time as any UV damage will only worsen your problem. So to be on the safe side only expose yourself to the blue light which can be generated via special bulbs like dichroic, speak to your doctor on how to go about this type of treatment as he or she will be able to advise you where to get the treatment also.

A few other things that maybe should be avoided are things like coffee as this can help stimulate cortisol which can promote acne if there is an abundance.

The main thing is to have as much fruit and vegetables and any foods high in antioxidants even a multi-vitamin taken once a day will only benefit your internal organs including your skin. Also do not try and over dry your skin as this only leads to your body producing more oils, the trick is to try and maintain a happy balance with your diet and any treatment you are receiving wether it be over the counter drugs or your natural alternative, at least if you try any of these methods you should hopefully see a vast improvement.
