The King of All

Author: Lynn Moriarty Parman

Jesus Christ, born in a barn,
Has nothing of noble stature.
Lulled to sleep in a manger,
Beasts of burden, his rapture.

Where are the robes and crown,
For this babe who's foretold in the Book?
Why is he welcomed by a star,
Leading a shepherd's crook?

There is no media blitz,
But Kings come a distance on foot,
To honor the truth, they find Jesus,
The Messiah: Christianity's root.

Jesus' childhood is normal for the day,
As Zachariah tells Mary what to expect.
"This child will bring you heartache,"
And for 30 years, she would reflect.

Mary knows when his time has come.
She tells the wine stewards to obey at Cana.
The miracle at the wedding is greater
Than hungry ancestors who found manna.

This time God works through his Son,
To show the people His would-be King.
The local boy from Nazareth is scorned.
Apostles don't understand a spiritual sting.

Suffering comes before triumph.
Jesus is betrayed by one of his own.
Crucified along with criminals,
His truth is a cross, that becomes his throne.

Father, they know not what they do.
Rising...shows his kingdom is another world.
The great Emmaus miracle
Helps God's plan to be unfurled.

They know him in the breaking of the bread,
These leaders of the new church of truth.
Peter says "where else could we go?"
Your word is profound, as seen from your youth.

Jesus Christ, our sovereign King
Is hope for a world in turmoil.
He teaches forgiveness for our neighbor
But the blood of martyrs still soaks the soil.

Martyrs have joined a roster of saints
With special graces in heaven.
They still work for the King of all
It takes guts to be the church's leaven.

Have you said 'yes' to the King today?
He is your passport to the Father.
Accept persecution with humbleness,
"Be it done to me," the example of his Mother.

Jesus Christ, King of all nations,
You're coming to settle our wars.
Leaders don't govern by your Book of Life.
There's dissension from east to west shores.

Each country needs spiritual direction.
They really don't know what they're doing.
The world needs your great mercy again
And a sense of your grace renewing.

When man worships man's greatness,
He cannot serve more than one master.
The greatest of wars is within the soul,
Where Jesus desires to be King and pastor.

The wood of a manger and wood of the cross
Have served Christ's ultimate glory.
By the using of things and loving all people,
He foretells the King's mighty story.

We make our own hell, or heaven,
By how much we are sorrowful.
Do you use the Father's forgiveness?
All heaven praises the King, who is merciful.
